Practices will be held rain or shine at SBA, subject to availability of the facilities. In the event of thunderstorms or hard rain, practice will be held in the multipurpose room. Short of a heavy storm, runners in grades 5-8 may still run outside at the discretion of the coaches. However, parents may pick up their children early or excuse them to aftercare at their discretion.
HEAT ADVISORY: With the heat in the mid- to upper 90's, it is very important that the kids follow basic safety precautions for the heat. Please review these with your children. 1. Bring a water bottle. Water is provided in the courtyard outside the cafeteria, however this is all the water for the entire team. Please do not drink it all or play with the water. 2. Rest as necessary. In the heat, the best thing to do is go easy. 3. If you feel dizzy or see spots, stop immediately and let a coach know as soon as possible. I want this to be a fun and safe activity, and it can be if we take these precautions. Thanks!

Sept. 26 is the Championship meet. 6th-8th grade runners will run their heats first, and then the remaining grades will run their heats in the usual order. At this meet, K-5 grade runners will be recognized for participation in the season. 6th-8th grade runners are eligible for trophies for both team and individual placement. In order to qualify the 6th-8th graders as a “team,” the school must have 4 male and 4 female runners that run in 2 out of the 3 previous meets. Schools with fewer than 4 team members may be combined with other schools. Please advise Coach Grigsby if you are a 6th-8th grader and will be unable to run in at least 2 of the meets in September.
For more information, please contact Coach Grigsby at [email protected].
